Haruma Miura, star of ‘Attack on Titan’, dies at 30


Haruma Miura, a Japanese actor known for his roles in the “Attack on Titan” and “Kimi ni Todoke” films, has died, according to Kyodo News and other local reports. I was 30 years old.

Kyodo News reported that the actor was found at his Tokyo home on Saturday and was later pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital. Investigative sources and the police believe that Miura died by suicide, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.

Miura’s management company Amuse Inc. said in a statement to Kyodo News that more details are awaited.

“For fans and interested people, we apologize for the concern and inconvenience caused, but as for the details, we are still confirming and will inform you once again,” wrote Amuse Inc.

Miura began her acting career in 1997 in the NHK television drama “Agri”, and landed her first lead role in 2006 in the movie “Catch a Wave”. He then played major roles in such films as “Kimi ni Todoke” in 2010, “Tokyo Park” in 2011, two films from “Attack on Titan” and “Little Nights, Little Love” in 2019. He was also active on television, most recently starring “Yonimo Kimyona Monogatari Haru no Tokubetsu-hen” on Fuji TV and “Gift of Fire” on NHK.

Miura was also successful in the theater, playing Lola in the Japanese adaptation of “Kinky Boots” in 2016, which earned her the Haruko Sugimara Award. She had also recently started a music career as she released a single in 2019 titled “Fight For Your Heart”. Her latest project, “The Confidence Man JP: The Movie 2”, will be released in Japan on July 23.
