Cave, 33, opened up to her when she and her younger sister Bebe were talking about growing up, and Bebe revealed that they once had a fight over who “had a harder teenage hood.”
The actress said: “I mean, come on, I was raped. I get the trump card.”
The sisters continue to talk about Bebe’s boyhood struggle, with braces and bad skin popping up.
Cave then went on to say: “To be honest, acne and braces are bad, but I think rape at 14 is pretty bad.
“By your tennis coach, who you trusted, a position of power.”
The actress – who said the person who raped her was sent to prison – added that there were “still consequences from that period that I only realize 18 years later”.
She went on: “And actually, the more time I have, the more I felt, this will sound awful, but I feel pretty happy in so many ways that I had a rape that was real … it did not I do not destroy myself, and I think that is something that people do not talk enough about with sexual abuse and trauma.
“There are some people who are after.
“There are some people who use it and find a way to live with it and are definitely not defined by it.”
Cave won the role of Lavender in 2007 after attending an open casting call.
She is in a relationship with fellow comedian Alfie Brown, and the couple are currently expecting their third child together.
