The Duke and Duchess of Sussex initiated legal action in the US after drones were allegedly used to take photos of their young son Archie.

A complaint filed Thursday in Los Angeles, California claims that an unidentified person photographed 14-month-old Archie at the Sussex home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The royal couple has claimed that the images were an invasion of privacy.

The lawsuit highlights California’s privacy laws.

Prince Harry and Meghan are now in Los Angeles, having stepped back as royalty in late March.

The couple’s attorney, Michael Kump, said: “The law guarantees all California members and family members the right to privacy in their home. No drone, helicopter, or telephoto lens can take away that right.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are filing this lawsuit to protect their young son’s right to privacy in their home without the intrusion of photographers, and to uncover and arrest those seeking to benefit from these illegal actions.”

According to the lawsuit, the paparazzi constantly follow the duke and duchess, who have tracked them to their home in Los Angeles, flying helicopters overhead and cutting holes in their security fences.

It marks the latest example of Sussex’s actions against what they have previously described as sensationalist “invasive” means.

In a separate legal action, against the publisher of Mail on Sunday and Mail Online, Meghan is suing for privacy violation and copyright violation.

Earlier this month, court documents said the duchess felt “unprotected by the institution” of the monarchy and “was prohibited from defending herself” from media reports during the pregnancy.

The publisher denies their claims.
