Hands on: The best uses of the PS5 Dual Sense Controller so far

PS5 Dual Sense Controller 1

As we have already repeated as part of it PS5 Review, The new dualsense controller is a little revealing in terms of gameplay feedback. The Pad lets you experience PlayStation 5 games in a way you never would with previous DualShock devices, providing a pressure response in triggers and a ridiculously real Rumble sensation that has the ability to depict different textures.

But while technology is revolutionary, it will ultimately come down to developers using it meaningfully. As we continue to cover Sony’s next-gen console, we thought it would be useful to keep our impression of the controller so far, and how it is implemented across a range of different games and genres.

Astro’s room

PS5 Dual Sense Controller Astro's Playroom

Yes, we’ve talked about it to the point of death, but in the order of these alphabets the first coming in the printed article, to please us one last time. Astro has a playroom This The best example of Dualsense’s capabilities, so far all the features of the pad benefit from a clearly awesome level. This is a game where you can physically feel the rain gusts in your hands; When the machine gun breaks at the bottom of your finger when your fire comes. Exceptional content and a benchmark for Sony’s controller.

Call of Duty: Black Ps Cold War

PS5 Dual Sense Controller Call of Duty: Black Ps Cold War

Call to Duty: Black Ps Cold and Massive with Dualsense Controller has been greatly improved, as the triggers take a backseat to every shot you shoot. Depending on the weight of the weapon, you experience resistance in L2 when you aim at targets, which gives heavy firearms a huge chance. The real cool feature, however, is the R2 rattles at your fingertips – and jams even when you’re reloading. Heptics, meanwhile, will add directional feedback to what’s happening on the screen, like nearby explosions and bullets. It’s really revolutionary stuff, and while professionals feel it affects their performance, as a casual, we enjoyed the added immersion.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition

PS5 Dual Sense Controller Devil May Cry5

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is using dual sense as a reason to justify itself, but its implementation is totally meaningless overall. Much of the haptic response is based on the original game’s Dual Shock 4 mess, so there really isn’t much texture here. The main “trait” is to overtake Nero, a move that can effectively “improve” the character’s sword like a motorcycle. This feels cool under the real finger – it reminds you of those flashlights without the battery you need to squeeze to illuminate – but the mechanic was always embarrassing to the original fans, and more difficult to operate here during intense combat scenes.

DIRT5

PS5 Dual Sense Controller DIRT5

The prospect of a DIRT5 matching Astro’s playroom was phenomenal, but we’re disappointed with the implementation of Dual Sense from head to toe. To be fair, adaptive triggers are used a lot, allowing you to feel tension when you pull the brakes at high speeds, while the accelerator also explains the change in grip as you transition between different surfaces. The hepatic response, however, lacks nuisance. Depending on whether we are driving on dirt, snow or ice, we expect different textures. There’s a little bit, but usually the title just pumps the pad’s motors, making for a fatigue experience that lacks any real nuisance.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

PS5 Dual Sense Controller Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales

It may be a first-party exclusive, but Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales uses the rest of Sony’s new controller technology, the G. There’s not much to talk about right now: Triggers have some extra stress when swinging, which is easy to adapt to even the weirdest at first. There’s also a little extra dimension to thunder when fighting; For example, when you punch a zen, you feel the transition of energy pulse around the pad. And that’s really about it. There is a nice moment where Miles types on the keyboard, and you can feel the individual button press on all controllers.

NBA 2K21

PS5 Dual Sense Controller NBA 2K21

NBA 2K21 seems to be working a little harder on that dual sense controller, because of all the games we’ve played on the PS5, this is the only one where we can really Listen Works inside the mechanics of the controller. Honestly not a huge fan of what we’ve played so far. When you try to sprint with a player who has less energy than energy, which makes sense, you will tighten the triggers. Similarly, when you are defending an opponent, the L2 button will show the physical exertion of the match-up. Personally, we would prefer a little more subtlety here; A little pulse when ncing the ball, for example, would make more sense than what the developer does.

Sack Kaboy: A great adventurer

The PS5 Dual Sense Controller is a big adventure

Secboy: A Big Adventure is a prime example of a game that gets a little frustrated after playing Astro’s playroom. To be clear: its use of dual sense is not bad at all. However, once you physically experience different surfaces through the controller, it is difficult to play a title that does not respond to the same level. Here are some great ideas, though: Browsing menus actually feel tactile because of the haptic feedback used, while the triggers become tighter when you choose objects to reflect the stress of its nickname heroes. There are also some moments where you have to use motion controls, and the gyroscopes work perfectly. It’s just that, when it rains in the game we can’t help but get frustrated and by dual sense you can’t feel it anymore.

We’ll add more games to this article as European launches, but for now this is about how our dual sense is used in half-a-dozen or more games. What have you been impressed with so far? Which title are you most excited to experience? Feel more in the comments section below.
