Halo veteran Joseph Staten joins 343 companies to get Halo Infinite ‘Back on Track’

Microsoft and 343 Industries have confirmed that Joseph Staten “will return to Halo a little later.” The news was revealed on Halo Waypoint, further clarifying that States will officially participate as project leaders for the Halo Infinite campaign after helping tell me why this week.

In addition to States, Pierre Hintze, head of the publishing team for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, will join the Halo Infinite team as project leader for his Free-To-Play multiplayer experience.

Hintze and his team “have shown a great opportunity over the past year to deliver new content, an excellent flight program, and content updates about MCC.”

Original story follows.

Halo veteran Joseph Staten, instrumental in the success of Bungie’s Halo games, has been transferred to 343 Industries to help Halo Infinite “get back on track.”

As reported by Bloomberg, Microsoft will also move one more senior leader to Halo Infinite, and sources say these changes are to “add more expertise to the project.” Microsoft is expected to announce these moves as early as tomorrow, August 27th.

States and the other senior leader will likely work with studio head Chris Lee and report to Bonnie Ross, the Microsoft VP who controls 343.Staten began his career at Bungie in 1998 as a product manager on Myth II: Soulblighter, and was the writer and director of films for Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, the author for Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, a creative consultant for Halo Wars, the author and creative director of Halo 3: ODST, and the author and co-creative director for Destiny.

States left Bungie in 2013, before the release of Destiny, and he rejoined Microsoft in 2014 to work on non-Halo games in the Xbox portfolio.

According to Bloomberg, he oversaw another game published by Microsoft for this decision.

Confirmed Xbox Series X Games

Halo Infinite was delayed until 2021 earlier this month, and it was undoubtedly a difficult decision as it was set to be the launch game for marquee for the Xbox Series X.
