Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC gets more than just Halo 3: ODST with its next update
Halo: The Master Chief CollectionThe latest season is around the corner. Of course, that means more brand new content. Players on PC will eventually be able to play Halo 3: ODST en Halo 3: ODST Firefight. But all over the place, new customization options are popping up Halo 3 specifically, in the form of seasonal rewards.
This new info comes from multiple videos uploaded on Youtube by the lucky people who have been accepted into the Hello incident program. This group has access to the latest flight builds from Halo: The Master Chief Collection. That also means though that much of what you will see in their videos is actually in development, so it’s important to take some of this new content with a grain of salt. While many new additions appear in stone, others could usually be modified later if this update is released to the public.
With that out of the way, let’s get into the most important part of the ODST update for the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection: adjustment. Armed skins and custom weapons will be available for Halo 3 multiplayer after this update, though don’t expect too much. So far, only three weapons have skins: the magnum, assault rifle and assault rifle. Those choices are pretty slim, but still can not miss the opportunity to pop the heads of pop players in Swat with a gold magnum.
As for the customization of armor, it is not what you expect to just put it. Do not worry, there are no microtransactions. All weapons and armor skins are unlocked in the same way as they are each season, with in-game points. However, the new options for customizing weapons are quite limited. There is no updated version of the Hyabusa or Recon armor, in fact there is no really new armor, just various color slides that you can attach to helmets.
Going by aesthetic additions, players can also expect a ton of changes to content versus their original release. Take for example ODST Firefight, which players can fully customize for the first time. You will be able to change the player’s health, jump high and more for an easier or harder time that will be against the waves of the Board Agreement. But perhaps the biggest change in gameplay is the first addition of weapons to ever Halo 3. The game will get three new guns, all original from ODST: the silent SMG, the car pistol and the brute plasma gel. It is not yet clear whether these new weapons will be added Halo 3 multiplayer as they will only present in Forge mode, but an expanded arsenal is never a bad thing.
The one piece of info we do not have yet is when we can expect this update to be officially released. Until then, I’ll just be playing swat and custom games with my pals, indicating that it’s 2009 again.
