Halo Infinite Graphics review directed by Dev; The game features a new acoustic engine that takes advantage of XSX

Halo Infinite didn’t exactly impress most fans with its gameplay showcase released this week, starting with the graphics, which many felt wasn’t ‘next-gen enough’.

However, yesterday we had the opportunity to participate in a press question-and-answer session, and 343 Industries Studio director Chris Lee was not afraid to broach the hot topic. Lee also spoke about improvements to the audio engine for Halo Infinite, which leverages the capabilities of the Xbox Series X hardware to provide a more immersive experience for the player.

Halo Infinite Gets First Single-Player Campaign Game Video

Chris Lee: I think for the graphics response, what I hope is that people have a chance to see our 4K streaming resources, I think that really allows our game to be displayed with full fidelity. We are definitely still in development, we have a bit of polishing and tuning that the team is working on to really bring the full potential of our experience to our fans later this year in Halo Infinite. We are definitely excited about the ambition of the title, of this open and expansive campaign and we will make sure it is polished and ready for when the fans get it in their hands during this vacation.

The gameplay demo is a great example of how we’re running on Xbox Series X, you’ll be able to run at 60 frames per second with up to 4K resolution. We are providing the most faithful experience we have ever created. We can do over 10 times the processing power per pixel that we were able to do in Halo 5, which simply allows us to create this experience that is unlike anything we’ve had in Halo before. In Halo Infinite, we’ve taken advantage of many advanced rendering techniques, but also the immense power of the Xbox X Series.

Music is incredibly important to Halo and our fans as well, and I’m really excited that after Curtis Schweitzer, a songwriter we talked about last year at E3, we can announce our second songwriter joining Curtis, Gareth Coker. Both Gareth and Curtis have been doing amazing work and throughout today’s demo they have been able to experience some of the music that Gareth has worked on. We also updated our audio engine to create a new acoustic system and take advantage of a lot of extra processing power and transmit power with the Xbox Series X to really be able to envelop the player in a much more realistic audio experience.

We will soon have more of our Halo Infinite questions and answers live on the website. The game will launch this holiday for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Windows 10 PC. It will be included with Xbox Game Pass for subscribers.
