Microsoft’s marquee Xbox Series X launch title, Halo Infinite, has been postponed to 2021. Developer 343 Industries said the move to a work-from-home environment was part of the reason behind the delay, and that it took the team time will provide to “deliver a Halo gaming experience that meets our vision.”
Needless to say, the internet had a lot to say about the delay, and we run into some of the hot tasks that people have posted on social media.
Halo Infinite is now slated for release in 2021, but a more specific date has not yet been announced. The delay is big news, as Halo Infinite would have been the first Halo game to be released as a launch title for new Xbox hardware since the original Halo: Combat Evolution in 2001.
While Halo Infinite is now coming out in 2021, Microsoft is still planning to release the Xbox Series X this year – now a November release date has been confirmed. The platform will have “thousands” of titles thanks to its launch due to its backward compatibility support for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the original Xbox.
Halo community director Brian Jarrard thought he understood the news of the delay as “disappointing.” However, he also mentioned that he is overwhelmed to see the Halo community’s reaction to the news and their 343 support to do what it has to do to get the game ready.
Never easy to deliver news that many will find disappointing, but the overwhelming show of support and understanding that comes out of the community today is amazing. We are all together in this want the best game possible. Thank you 🙏

Halo’s community manager, John Junyszek, shared a similar sentiment. “The Halo community is the best community,” he said, adding the fist-bob Emoji to his tweet.
Mat Piscatella, an analyst at research firm NPD, said in his own tweet that people should remember and respect the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic and have patience and understanding regarding the delay of Halo Infinite.
The fact that video games are made entirely is a bit of a miracle. Do not be afraid that some will be delayed in the midst of a pandemic that has forced everyone to shift their entire way of working and living on the run. C’mon gamers, a little empathy would go a long way.

Waypoint reporter Patrick Klepek added that he heard that the shift from 343 to a work-from-home environment had a “particularly large impact” on the final stages of Halo Infinite’s development.
I’ve heard for a large part of this year that the transition to work from home in the middle of COVID-19 had a particularly big impact on the final stretch of Halo Infinite’s development. The delay makes a lot of sense, even though I wondered if they would actually make the decision.

Ace Watkins, the fake gamer president, also sounded on the delay with a joke about Joe Biden announcing Kamala Harris as his running mate on the same day as this news about Halo.
Joe Biden today announced Kamala Harris as his running mate because he is too scared to wrestle with the big issues his campaign cannot handle. Do not be fooled by this distraction. As president, I’ll make sure we get Halo: Infinite on time.

Windows Central reporter Jez Corden jokes that 343 Halo Infinite slowed down to include Craig de Brute in the game. It’s a joke, but we hope 343 actually includes an Easter Egg or another knot to the popular meme.
They slow Halo Infinite to add Craig as imo of a main character.

Wushu Studios communications manager Shinobi602 said it was praiseworthy for 343 to delay Halo Infinite, given that it was the title of the flagship launch for Series X.
It’s easy for anyone outside of gamedev to point and mock 343 on Halo Infinite. It was the pillar of Series X this year – probably Microsoft’s biggest project ever. It could have been escaped & fixed later, but delaying the launch for employee quality and health is commendable.

Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski said he welcomes the news of the Halo Infinite delay as it means the end product will be better. “Take your time, team, and finally, shut up and take my money,” he said.
Halo Infinite delayed.
That franchise broke the fuckin ‘mold for console shooters and I was too stupid at the time – when the first one came out – to admit it.
Take your time, team up and, finally, shut up and take my money.– Cliff Bleszinski (@therealcliffyb) 11 August 2020
Twitter user 9 VOLT brought up Shigeru Miyamoto’s memorable quote to reference the delay of Halo Infinite, but with a more humorous spin.
a raging game is forever bad, a slow game is ultimately duke nukem forever. just remember this famous saying of shigeru miyamoto if you are sad about halo infinitely slow 🙂
