Xbox boss Phil Spencer appeared on Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking talk show on Wednesday night after the announcement of Halo infinitedelay. He talked a bit about the decision to delay the game on the show, which he said was “his call to make.”
Hello Infinite will no longer be released next to Microsoft’s next-generation console, the Xbox Series X, in November. A new release date was not given immediately – only that it will now arrive in 2021. He said the decision, however, did not affect other launch plans.
Spencer said Microsoft and 343 Industries began talking about the decision “late last week” to go over certain options – such as sending parts of the game separately. In the end, however, Spencer said it just wasn’t the right fit for a game like that Halo infinite; a delay was the appropriate decision.
Microsoft announced Halo infinitedelay on Tuesday. Several factors were cited for the delay, according to the announcement – such as “the persistent COVID-related effects.” Criticism had followed the first trailer of the game; many players called it outdated or not “next-gen” enough.
