The first game reveal for Halo Infinite is slated for tomorrow, July 23, during the highly anticipated Xbox Game Showcase for Xbox Series X. Prior to that, the official case design for the shooter has been revealed, and it has great similar to the game that started it all, and also confirms some of the elements we return that we can expect to see.
The box design closely resembles that of Halo: Combat Evolved. Master Chief appears prominently in the foreground, standing in part of a giant Halo ring that can be seen curving in the distance. A pelican drop ship flies through the sky as lightning emitters shoot into the air. A crashed ship is also located at the bottom right. But most notable is a subtle detail on the Boss wrist, as it appears to be equipped with what looks like a grappling hook, which could be an important component during gameplay.
Halo: Combat Evolved was released on the original Xbox in 2001. It was one of the strongest exclusives on the console, and the series has continued to be an integral part of the Xbox brand in the future. After the lukewarm reception of Halo 5: Guardians, it makes sense that developer 343 Industries is looking back on what originally worked, which has clearly influenced the box design below.
Halo Infinite, while responding to criticism from Guardians, is also described as a new approach to the first-person shooter franchise. Without any games, it’s hard to say for sure what 343 Industries means by that, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer has talked about the studio’s first-part work in the lead up to tomorrow’s reveal.

Halo Infinite is one of the many exclusives planned for the show, with the campaign game confirmed to be shown. Along with other exclusives, it will hit Xbox Series X, as well as PC and Xbox One at launch. Phil Spencer has clarified that first-party studios have the option to target exclusively next-gen hardware, but that won’t be the case for the first year at least in the Xbox X Series lifecycle.
