Halloween Horror Nights canceled at Universal Studios Hollywood amid a coronavirus pandemic

UNIVERSAL CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) – As coronavirus cases continue to rise in California, Universal Studios Hollywood announced on Friday that this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event will be canceled.

“We know this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are also disappointed. But we hope to create an incredible event in 2021,” the theme park said in a statement posted online.

Universal Studios Hollywood has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and despite the fact that City Walk began its gradual reopening in June, the park says it “continues to face trade restrictions and uncertainty about its opening deadline.”

Halloween Horror Nights has also been canceled in Orlando, despite the theme park’s reopening with enhanced security measures on June 5.

According to the Universal Orlando Resort website, guests who had tickets to the event can request a refund or use their tickets for next year’s Halloween Horror Nights.
