“[T]the notion that * Susan driving Collins crazy * is a treacherous Trump Bot who never defies the party and is controlled by men is ridiculously insulting, “Benson, the host of Fox News Radio’s” The Guy Benson Show “, tweeted.” As a conservative, I have been frustrated by your votes many times over the years … “
Benson did not call the Lincoln Project by name, but instead referred to them as “the [clown] crew.”
Titled “Trump Stooge,” the ad hits Collins as a “fraud” and says his “voice” is controlled by Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Republican of Ky.
“Susan Collins never confronts Donald Trump,” says the narrator in the ad. “That is why Maine ended its weakness and excuses.”

Polls indicate that Collins faces a close race against Democrat Sara Gideon in the November election. Collins, who is seeking a fifth term in the Senate, is only a New England Republican in the current Congress.
Collins received national attention in the fall of 2018 when he voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh before the Supreme Court amid a national controversy over allegations of sexual misconduct against the candidate. Earlier this year, he voted to acquit Trump in the Senate impeachment trial, but described the president’s behavior in dealing with Ukraine as “wrong” and frustrated some members of his own party by joining Democrats in his attempt to listen to former national security adviser John Bolton
“In [sic] The two biggest blows to his voting record – Kavanaugh’s confirmation and impeachment – offered detailed and thoughtful explanations, and he voted the same way he did when the Democratic presidents were in office, “Benson said in a later tweet “Conservatives tried to expel her has zero credibility.
