Gunman on the loose in the afternoon of active shooter situation at Louisiana Hospital


An active shooting situation that unfolded in Louisiana Hospital Wednesday morning left one man injured because police searching for the gunman believed to be loose somewhere in the building.

The shooting happened before 5:30 p.m. Mary Medical Center in Shreveport, La.

Taniel Cole (41) apparently shot another man in the leg in the building. The victim, who was not named by authorities, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, Shreveport Police Sgt. Angie Willhite told KSLA.

A SWAT hostage negotiation team with the Shreveport Police Department, as well as deputies from Caddo Parish’s office, remains on the scene.

Police are looking for Cole in the hospital, but are not sure if he left the building on foot or in a car, Willhite said. Residents in the surrounding Highland neighborhood were advised to stay indoors.
