‘Gundam Extreme versus Maxiboost ON’ topped the Japanese charts, ouster ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’

Since the launch of Gundam Extreme Versus Maxiboost ON, the game has continued to do very well in the Japanese charts, unsettling Animal Crossings: New Horizons in the process.

According to Famitsu, with effect from 2 August Gundam Extreme Versus Maxiboost ON has topped the Japanese charts with 123,147 units sold. This is more than double that of Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the same period, which now ranks second with 56,730 sales.

That said, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has apparently done very well in Japan since its release, having so far sold an impressive 5,337,128 units.

Speaking of the Switch, the console is still doing very well in Japan. With both the regular Switch and Switch Lite selling a total of 86,605 units in the same period. In contrast, the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro sold only 4,025 units.

As before Gundam Extreme Versus Maxiboost ON, it is a thoroughly excellent game and comes thoroughly recommended. Although it’s a shame it took this long for the game to get a console release, I hope we’ll see it released on the Switch sometime.
