Although Grand Theft Auto Toe V originally came out in 2013, it is still one of the most popular, best-selling games today. As proof of its ongoing relevance, the YouTube channel PlayStation Heaven has garnered more than a million views, with one of GTA’s most meme-themed scenes re-enacting a video between Franklin and Lamar.
Twist the Reconnaissance uses real actors who voiced those characters in 2013: Shannon Fonteno (Franklin) and Gerald “Slink” Johnson (Lamar). The video is a teaser for a series online series called GTA V Real-Life Comparisons, starring Slink, who compares the game’s Los Santos city to Los Angeles.
Warning: Graphic language in all of the following clips.
Watching the clip above with zero context can be confusing. It’s a scene that has maintained the Internet’s reputation in the GTA community online for years, “Yeh yeh ass hair cut.” Thanks to the sentence. In fact, “Yeh Yeh Gardab Haircut” has its own meme and urban dictionary pages.
The community has tickled itself by introducing and dubbing characters like Darth Vader, Vegeta and Snow White in the role of Lather so that these characters can “roast” French. Poor Franklin.
GTA VA launched in 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Eight years later and the PS4 / Xbox One remaster, the game has sold 120 million units. Upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | The S versions of the game, as well as Rockstar’s continued work on the GTA Online line, will see the GTA V continue for even more years.
