Grown-ish Star Yara Shahidi is expanding her relationship with ABC Studios. Shahidi and his business partner and mother, Keri Shahidi, have signed an exclusive blanket agreement with the studio behind the hit series to develop and produce scripted and alternative television projects for cable, broadcast, and broadcast through their newly released production company 7th Sun. The company will be based at ABC Studios, a part of Disney Television Studios.
“I am delighted to be partnering with my family of origin, ABC Studios, in this exciting next chapter, along with my family,” Shahidi said. “It is exciting to add our production company to the list of my peers and mentors who are also actively committed to sharing meaningful stories.”

Inspired to continue raising underrepresented voices, 7th Sun’s mission is “to pursue projects that address themes of history, heritage, culture and joy.” The Shahidis have hired veteran executive Lajoie St. George to lead the development of the 7th Sunday. St. George brings over 10 years of NBC International experience and an equivalent passion to advocating for accurate and reflective media.
