After an eight-year career, the Ground Round Grill and Bar next to the Oxford Valley Mall appears to have served its last burger.
The food establishment and sports bar in Middletown Township remained closed as COVID-19 mitigation measures were relaxed. The location was removed from the company website, the phone was disconnected, and the company was not available for comment.
Weeds have sprung up around the building that housed Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse until the Ground Round opened in January 2012.
A sign on the door said that the land round was closing due to the pandemic and that it was dated in mid-March.
Neighboring TGI Friday’s and Bertucci’s Brick Oven Pizza and Pasta have reopened for dinner.
Ground Round started in 1969 and was founded by Howard Johnson’s hotel and restaurant chain. The chain has shrunk over the years and is now owned by the Maine-based Independent Owners Cooperative. Only 15 locations left from the land round.
