Past vs Present of NXT at Great American BashNXT past vs. present in Great American Bash

It’s time for the return of Great American Bash, NXT style! Mauro Ranallo credited the show to the late great Dusty Rhodes, who was responsible for creating the Great American Bash in the first place.

The first night of The Great American Bash featured some amazing matches. Two specifically that fans were expecting were Oney Lorcan vs. Timothy Thatcher and Sasha Banks vs. Io Shirai. They absolutely lived up to expectations.

We kick off The Great American Bash with the NXT Women’s No.1 Contender Fatal-4-Way match!

NXT Great American Bash Fatal-4-Way Match: Tegan Nox vs Dakota Kai vs Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai jumped to the ground to let Tegan Nox and Mia Yim collapse. However, LeRae caught Yim from behind and sent her outside. LeRae and Kai focused on Nox.

Kai prepared Nox for the apron boot, but Nox avoided him and led his spine first into the ring. LeRae moved in for a suicide dive, but Yim’s side kick almost sent her out of the ring. LeRae recovered, pulling Yim out before crushing Kai’s face in the apron with a flat overlay.

LeRae followed with a trampoline trampoline, exposing Kai for the time being. Yim found her going up. The Poison Pixie slid down his legs and carried Yim through the ring with an avalanche of German suplex, nearly getting the first elimination in The Great American Bash.

Kai set up LeRae for Go To Kick, but Nox demolished it with a big boot. Kai inadvertently hit LeRae with another boot, and Yim followed up with one of his own. Yim finished LeRae with Sole Food.

First elimination: Mia Yim picked up the first elimination on Candice LeRae in The Great American Bash.

Kai brought the fight to Yim, throwing it with several chops and kicks. About to plummet, she only managed to count a little before Yim left. Kai prepared to catch Nox in one leg, but Yim jumped on her, placing her on a guillotine, preparing a double submission in the process.

Eventually they all broke up, leading to a three-way fight. Yim and Nox decided to focus on Kai, and they both eliminated Team Captain Kick with a Cannonball Senton and a Cannonboar senton. Even though his two opponents pinned him down, Kai kicked him and rolled to the ground.

Yim and Nox decided to face off. They were tied, with both Superstars trading blows. Kai shook Nox before he could launch himself into a suicide dive, but was unable to capitalize. Yim dropped her with a suplex dragon.

Yim used Kai as a springboard to send Nox out in a hurricane. A dive brought Lady Kane down. Yim did the same to Kai, sending her crashing into the barricade. Back inside, Kai emerged from Code Blue. Nox tried to roll up Yim with a crucifix, but was countered at Sole Food.

As Yim looked at Nox, Kai rolled her up with an O’Connor Roll, eliminating her from combat.

Second elimination: Dakota Kai eliminated Mia Yim for pinfall in The Great American Bash.

Kai caught Nox in a lock. Slowly, No broke away and rolled Kai up for a count of two. The old best friends went to bed with the correct hands. Kai won the fight and surprised Nox with a super kick. Nox responded with a head butt and started building momentum. The right hands and the clotheslines left Kai struggling to stand on the corner.

A trio of running uppercuts left Kai sitting in the corner. The Cannonboar went online and Nox had a close fall, using Kai’s knee brace as a lever. Kai tried to surprise Nox with a running crossbody, but turned into a bridge slam for another close call.

When Nox moved towards the top, Kai sent her back to the mat where the Kairopractor was connected. Still, Kai couldn’t hold her back. Kai replied with a brainbuster but Kai refused to resign. Kai avoided the brightest wizard and coiled Nox with the crucifix.

Nox kicked out and was immediately caught in Kai’s submission. She managed to turn it into a pinfall, forcing Kai to break it. After a header, Nox landed with the Molly-Go-Round. The brightest wizard finally defeated Kai forever and earned Nox the first victory of the night in The Great American Bash.

Results: Tegan Nox defeated Dakota Kai by pinfall to become the No. 1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship at The Great American Bash.

Degree: yes

Damian Priest was in the backstage where he called Cameron Grimes who, thus far, had cut Priest’s tires and attacked him prior to his match last month. Priest put up a challenge. A match without tricks. Just a one-sided beating that Grimes will regret forever. Will we have a final match at Great American Bash on night two?

Knowing Grimes? Probably not, and Priest most likely “can’t” make it to The Great American Bash if history has taught us anything.
