The club may not have its star next season, but the club captain is determined to ensure first-class survival.
Jack Grealish, who has been linked with Manchester United, acknowledged that he “is not quite sure” that he played his last home game for Aston Villa after helping his team secure a vital victory over Arsenal on Tuesday.
Villa captain Grealish led his team to a vital 1-0 home win over Arsenal on Tuesday, moving Dean Smith’s team above Watford and out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Trezeguet scored the game’s only goal, which he shot home after a corner kick by Aston Villa to seal three points that could be key to Villa’s Premier League survival.
Regardless of the current status of his top-notch club, however, the midfielder’s future appears to be in doubt, as Grealish did not compromise when asked about his future on Tuesday.
Manchester United has been among the clubs touted as suitors for Grealish, who could not confirm that he would return with a Villa jersey at the start of next season.
“I’m not quite sure right now,” he told Sky Sports after the victory over Arsenal. “I have one goal and that is to keep this club in the Premier League.”
“This whole club, the whole stadium and the fan base know where we belong. That’s all I’m thinking about right now, keeping this club in the Premier League. I hope we can do it on Sunday.”
Trezeguet scored Villa’s decisive goal, his third in three games, and Grealish has yet to provide a goal or assist since the Premier League restart.
However, Villa’s talisman felt he had returned somewhere near his best level against Arsenal, including sending Keinan Davis for a big foul in the second half.
“It would mean everything to me [to keep Villa up]”Grealish said.” I think since we got back, it probably hasn’t been as effective as before.
“Truthfully, I haven’t felt as fit as I did before the break, but that’s no excuse. I just need to do what I know I can do.”

“I probably did it today. I was probably unlucky not to get help in the end.”
Aston Villa’s victory ensured that the club is now out of the relegation zone for the first time since February 28, as they sit ahead of Watford, who is ranked 18th on the goal difference.
For their final game of the Premier League campaign, Villa will face West Ham with the opportunity to secure their place in the league.
