Renowned photographic news agency Getty Images has announced a partnership with Polyphony Digital to provide motorsports photography services to the digital realm.
Getty’s specialized motoring photographers will capture images from within Gran Turismo Sport – and maybe Gran Turismo 7 in the future, and publish them through your global distribution network. This should bring the possibilities of virtual motorsports to a much broader audience, including broader brands and media that get images from Getty Images.
This partnership is an extension of a project that we have already seen. This service was provided by Getty during the 2019 FIA Online Championship World Tour season, with stills from events in the Nurburgring, New York, Salzburg, Tokyo and Monaco. It also continued earlier this year, with Getty photographers capturing sights in-game at the Sydney World Tour event.
In addition to live events, Getty Images will also snap photos of online events, such as broadcasts of the Top 16 Superstars. This will also showcase some of the inventive liveries that players can introduce, and the possibilities of the game’s livery editor feature.
Ken Mainardis, global head of content at Getty Images, said:
“This partnership with Polyphony Digital signifies the next phase of sports photography and the true growth that is taking place across the eSports landscape. Getty Images has been at the forefront of innovation through its sports photography and by creating in-game images with expert motorsport photographers, Getty Images remains at the forefront of delivering premium eSports content to our customers worldwide. “
You can see some of the images captured by photographers on the official Getty Images site, including photos from World Tour events and the last 16 major races.
