Governor Huckabee on Trump’s reelection strategy: “The president has some challenges”

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee told “America’s Newsroom” on Friday that President Trump “has some challenges” ahead of the 2020 election.

He added, however, that “there is more than enough time to remind people that the worst thing they can do is choose Joe Biden, who is an AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez]Green New Deal, open the border, raise your taxes, make the government bigger, shut your mouth if you’re a religious guy. “

Huckabee made the comments when Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden leads Trump in the polls.

Last week, the launch of a series of national and key battlefield state polls showed Biden leading or outpacing Trump in the national popular vote, and most importantly, in the crucial states Trump won four years ago. to annoy Hillary Clinton.

The publication of the polls, from Fox News, New York Times / Siena College, NPR / PBS / Marist, Quinnipiac University and Marquette Law School, appears to be a problem for the president as he fights for another four years in the White House.

But Huckabee noted that it is still a long way from Election Day, saying the poll numbers “only matter to show perhaps a snapshot or trend.”

“It does not determine what the elections will be like because a lot can happen,” he continued. “Let’s go back four months, so they didn’t close us off with coronaviruses, so a lot can happen.”

He also noted that “the president was very late at this time in 2016 [when] it looked like Hillary was going to be victorious. ”

Huckabee went on to say, “There is a state of mind in this country. I think that state of mind is starting to resurface. ”

“Many people are fed up with political correctness, they are disgusted with the nonsense … [getting rid] of the statue of [Christopher] Columbus and put on one of Chef Boyardee, “he explained.

“People have lost their minds, especially with the 4th of July, we are celebrating America, America, where people can go out there and make crazy statements and make a fool of themselves. If they tried in most countries, they would be shot or imprisoned for life. ”

According to a Monmouth University poll released Thursday, 52 percent of registered voters surveyed said they are at least somewhat certain that Biden has the mental and physical stamina to carry out the extremely demanding job of president. Only 45 percent said the same thing about Trump.

However, a third of respondents said they were very confident that the president has the physical and mental fitness to carry out his job, compared to 23 percent for the presumed Democratic presidential candidate.

Host Leland Vittert asked Huckabee if Trump “needs to change what he is talking about … and what problems he is facing.”

“It’s not that he changes what he’s saying, sometimes it changes the way he says it,” Huckabee said in response. “And I don’t mean that he becomes the kind of soft-spoken, gentle person that he’s never going to be because that’s not his style, but it’s about the slights that the country is feeling, not the ones he’s feeling. He’s feeling . ”

BIDEN PUSHES BACK IN TRUMP MENTAL SHARPNESS ATTACKS, SAYS IT IS “CONSTANTLY” PROOF

He went on to explain that “the majority of American voters and families and single mothers and families trying to recover from [the] impact of the coronavirus, they do not care that someone has insulted the president, they do not care if someone has lied about it, what matters to them is if they are going to recover and if their neighborhoods will be safe or not. they will be invaded by a group of protesters who break down their doors and steal their things. “

Huckabee said he believes President Trump “has to be the people’s champion, not the champion of his own problems he faces because he is hated by the media and hated by the far left.”
