Gov. Cuomo has a new book about leading NY via COVID-19

Governor Andrew Cuomo has released a new book – and it’s all about himself.

The last tome of the Democrat’s three term, ‘American Crisis’, promises to give readers a behind-the-scenes look at Cuomo’s treatment of the coronavirus outbreak – even as the pandemic breaks out.

The book will be released on October 13, Crown publisher said Tuesday – a day after Cuomo pleaded guilty on WAMC radio to penning a book.

In a press release, Crown called “American Crisis” a “remarkable portrait of leadership in crisis and a gruesome story of well-wrestled choices that pave the way to a safer future for all of us.”

It was also considered “a powerful testament to true leadership in times of extreme crisis.”

But there was no mention of whether it would include the governor’s response to COVID-19 in nursing homes, which has left at least 6,600 dead – a move he vehemently defends.

But the death toll from New York’s coronavirus in nursing homes, already among the highest in the nation, could actually be a major undercount. Unlike any other state with major outbreaks, the Cuomo administration only counts residents who died from nursing home ownership and not those who were transported to and died in hospitals. That statistic could add thousands to the state’s official care home care facility. But so far, Cuomo has refused to share the number, leading to speculation that the state is manipulating the figures to appear that it is doing better than other states and making a tragic situation less difficult.

Studies by the state health department show that 21,000 beds in nursing homes are empty this year, 13,000 more than expected – an increase of almost double the official star association for nursing homes. While some of this increase can be attributed to fewer new admissions and people attracting loved ones, it suggests that many others who are no longer there have died.

The book also praises Cuomo’s “open accounting and assessment of his interactions” with the federal government, as well as local and state leaders.

And there will be plenty to choose from. He and Mayor Bill de Blasio often found themselves hesitant about a number of issues during the pandemic – including school closures and general rescheduling.

In April, Cuomo de Blasio asked to advise residents to wear face masks, who then two weeks later wore a face mask and gave it a public order.

Cuomo has also publicly warned President Trump, who in March accused the governor of overwriting the state’s request for fans.

Critics have said Cuomo took too long in issuing a state-wide lockdown in the early days of the public health crisis.

Crown said the book will explain Cuomo’s “clear game plan” for fighting coronavirus, with New York now at an infection rate of 1 percent, despite recording 25,264 deaths – the most in the country.

“If you do not feel fear, you do not appreciate the consequences of the circumstance,” Cuomo wrote in an excerpt released Tuesday. ‘The questions are what do you do with the fear and should you succumb to it. I would not control the fear myself. The fear kept my adrenaline high and that was a positive. But I would not leave the fear negative, and I would not spread it. Fear is also a virus. ”

Cuomo said he also writes about following in the footsteps of his late father Mario Cuomo with his 40-year career as a civil servant.

An audiobook edition of ‘American Crisis’ will also be available – read by the Queens-born pole itself.

Other politicians, including Trump, accused Cuomo of appearing to try and take advantage of the pandemic.

‘A terrible governor. Crime is taking over NYC & State, everyone is leaving, ”Trump said tweeted Tuesday. ‘He’s going to the NRA – They need to move to Texas or somewhere else, and need to get tough. Cuomo killed 11,000 people in nursing homes alone. Crooked and incompetent! ”

Former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee tweeted, “Cuomo Writes a Lead on Abbot Lead in the Virus of China is like Harvey Weinstein writing a book called ‘How to Treat a Lady.'”

Cuomo, 62, got a nationwide following with his daily presents for coronavirus – with his fans doubling up on themselves “Cuomosexuals” and his office peddling copies of his “New York Tough” victory-lap poster for $ 14.50.

The guv – who has repeatedly raised rumors about a future run for president – took 111 consecutive days of press conferences with a self-congratulatory tribute to himself and the message, “Do not worry – I’m not going anywhere.”

He also wrote “All Things Possible: Backbacks and Success in Politics” in 2014 and “Life and Crossroads: The Future of American Politics” in 2003.

Financial terms for “American Crisis” were not disclosed. Cuomo eventually made $ 783,000 from his 2014 memoir.

News of his latest title comes the day after he addressed the Democratic National Convention, declaring “COVID is a metaphor” for our country under President Trump.
