GOP sen. Bill Cassidy tests positive for Covid-19

He has plans for 14 days quarantine, according to this agency.

“I strictly follow the direction of our medical experts and strongly encourage others to do the same,” the senator said in a statement.

Several lawmakers from both parties have tested positive for coronavirus, including Illinois Republican Rep. Rodney Davis, who announced that he tested positive earlier this month.
Chamber member Nancy Pelosi in July mandated wearing a mask on the floor of the House to Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert – who was often in the room interacting with colleagues and refusing to have a face mask – tested positive for coronavirus. The House Sergeant-at-arms also issued an additional set of rules “on the direction of the Speaker of the Second Chamber”, which require face covering in all office buildings of the House.

The Senate, by contrast, has not implemented any mask requirements, although the vast majority of its members – including Cassidy – regularly wear masks when the chamber is in session. The Senate is currently in its recession period of August.

Republican reps Morgan Griffith of Virginia, Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida and Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania, and Democratic reps. South Carolina’s Joe Cunningham and Utah’s Ben McAdams have also announced in recent months that they are testing positive for the virus.
