It’s no secret that Google’s 2020 smartphone lineup has been significantly affected by the Kovid-19 epidemic – the Pixel 4 was originally scheduled to launch on Google I / O in May, but that event was canceled and the release was pushed back to August. . This latest pixel leak shows an engineering model of the phone called the firmware Pixel 5s, but before you get excited about the possibility of a new pixel, which we didn’t already know, it’s probably just the Pixel 5.
Google has already told us that the next two phones will be the Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5, and these leaks seem to be far behind what we know about it. The ‘Pixel 5’ name is allowed in the ‘About Phone’ section of the settings Alex Dobby of Android Central on Twitter. According to him, the codenamed ‘Bramble’ (4A 5G) device was originally supposed to be the Pixel 5, while the ‘Redfin’ (Pixel 5) was supposed to be the Pixel 5s, but delays and other factors could lead to lineup changes and marketing. Deviations. Since these images are from an early engineering sample, it is probably running an older firmware that shows the name of the previous device.

Looks like all the confusion has cleared up since then, though maybe not. Mishal Rahman of XDA Says he’s heard that the ‘Bramble’ Pixel 4 was called the XL. It’s quite possible that one or more planned phones were rested – explaining the lack of any XL models – so we never know what Google’s full 2020 lineup looked like.
Interesting. I would have heard the pixels, we are getting this fall, a few names changed along the way. So I believe that at some point “Bramble” (now 4A 5G) was going to be Pixel 5, and “Redfin” (now 5) was called Pixel 5s. According to Rahman, FCC filings for the Pixel 5 list four different model Dell numbers, two of which will ship with MMwave support. At the moment it is not clear whether Google will differentiate these models with different names like Pixel 5s, or if they will all be called Pixel 5s and you can choose a specific model when you make a purchase. Some of these types of carriers may also be excluded. Despite all these confusions, in the coming months we are still getting only one Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 (in various configurations) from Google. Even so, we wonder what could have happened. Maybe the next glitch will shed more light on what we are missing out on.
More pixel 5s images
The same source on Twitter has since uploaded some more images of the Pixel 5s device. We can’t learn much more from this, except for the fact that this model has 128GB of storage. We would expect nothing less from a flagship phone in 2020, a more modest one like the Pixel 5.
