Someone on the B&H photo video has jumped the gun and listed Google’s Nest-General Smart Display, Nest Hub 2. When the list doesn’t reveal images, don’t be ashamed to give everything you want. Learn about the device, including its price.
The Hub 2 has a 7-inch display (1024 x 600) with an ambient EQ sensor and a new color sensor to optimize the output based on lighting. Now it should listen to you better because the device has a three-mic array compared to its two predecessor microphones. The sound output, however, seems to be downgraded, at least on paper. Passive radiators found on the nest hub have bitten the dust and the primary driver is only slightly larger at a distance of 43.5 mm.
The board has some new sensors, though – temperature sensors and soli radar. The former should be useful in adjusting the routine based on the ambient temperature (for example, if the temperature rises above 0 ° F, turn on the air conditioner). While the list does not reveal what Soli will be used for, an earlier report claimed it could have something to do with sleep tracking and motion sensing.
We can expect some processing upgrades and other smarts, but this is not detailed in the B&H list. We have the price and the colors of the smart display will be available. Compatible with Nest Audio Dio, Nest Hub 2 will be available in chalk, charcoal, mist and sand (Sage is missing). However, it is not the same in both devices. If the list is taken into account, they will also share a tag 99 price tag – much less than the original Nest Hub cost the 150.
There is no word on when the device will be officially announced, but the list shows that pre-orders will begin March 30. We can probably expect to hear from Google about this very soon.
