Google Home 2.26 adds advanced settings for Google Wifi app

Last week, Google began rolling out the ability to import Google Wifi networks into the Home app. This is part of a larger update that sees Google Home add the Wifi apps’ “advanced network” settings, which means you no longer have to use two clients.

The changes in Google Home 2.26 start in the list of connected devices after tapping the Wifi shortcut key at the top of the app. Each item that appears is now accompanied by a “Pause” button. This means you no longer have to use Family Wifi to temporarily boot a phone or computer from your network.

Meanwhile, selecting a device will now display “Connection” information (Wireless / band or wired) and the point at which you are connected. This adds to device type, IP and MAC address, which was always present, on the redesigned pop-up.

The main preferences page – accessible from the settings in the right corner is now home to “Advanced Network.” There used to be a shortcut here to open the full Google Wifi app.

In Google Home, you can now manage: DNS, WAN, LAN, UPnP, IPV6, DHCP IP reservations, Port management, and network mode. This is every setting, and means you no longer have to use the old Wifi app, which has not been updated in centuries. This may signal the possible depression, but it is still necessary for OnHub routers.

Google Home 2.26 with advanced Wifi settings is now running through the Play Store.
