- Google has confirmed that the Pixel 5’s screen gap is part of the phone’s design.
- The owners feared that the gaps, which are noticeable between the screen and the body, were defective.
- The firm also confirmed that the gaps do not affect the water and dust resistance of the Pixel 5.
After the launch of the Google Pixel 5 last month, buyers took to the forline platform due to concerns about potential design flaws – gaps were found between the phone’s screen and the body. Now, the company has finally addressed these concerns.
According to a community representative at the P Face Pixel Forum, gaps are not a case of design defects or boring workmanship but a part of the phone’s design.
“We have had the opportunity to inspect customer units and, together with our factory quality control data, we can confirm that the difference in clearance between the body and the display is a common part of your Pixel 5 design. , ”Says the representative.
It is a particularly bizarre statement that many users of the same platform report gaps in different locations and sizes. Not every phone has a significant gap. Our Pixel 5 review device was one such example.
However, the update states that the gap has no effect on the phone’s “water and dust resistance or efficiency”. This means that users can still trust the phone’s IP68 rating.
It is not clear why that distance. That could be the method used to secure the screen glass to the rest of the phone’s frame. Even if it is not a quality control issue, it remains a vague, ugly feature of the pay flag.
