Google Parent Alphabet announced on Tuesday that the G Suite group of its productivity apps, including Gmail, will be renamed as Google Workspace and will get more prices. The new name better reflects the way Google Meet Video-K.Ling service is available from various apps, such as Google Drive.
These changes will help Google increase revenue and become a more formidable challenge for Microsoft, whose FIS 365 app is more popular for commercial use. Any growth could boost Google’s cloud business, reducing Alphabet’s reliance on Google’s advertising business, an action that fell in the second quarter under the pressure of the epidemic and recession.
Google’s customer services, such as Gmail and Google Drive, are widely used, and the company has spent years trying to mimic the success of companies, schools, and nonprofits. According to industry research firm Gartner, in 2019, with a .6.6..6% share, microsoft is dominant in the email and documenting software software market. Google had 11.5%, up from 10.5% in 2018.
The basic and business versions of the G Suite, priced at per 6 per user and user 12 per month, will be available as business starter and business standard plans for customers with 300 or fewer seats. A new Business Plus option with more security features will cost $ 18 per user per month. There is also a new required level for teams and departments, which will be available for $ 8 per user per month. Big businesses can contact Google’s sales people, as was the case before.
Javier Soltero, vice president and general manager of Google Workspace, said the new “Farings” should definitely translate into more value for customers. “
In addition to changes in name and prices, Google is rebranding the logo of several services to use all four colors in the main Google logo, and is introducing new features. For example, when a user mentions a colleague by name in a document, other users will be able to hover over the name to find contact information. In addition, the Team Communications app will allow Google Chat users to create documents from within their text conversations.
Google has previously tried to make branding changes to boost its commercial products.
In 2014, Google renamed Google Enterprise, including many of its products for business as Google for Work.
In 2016, Diane Green, then Google’s cloud chief, introduced the G Suite brand to accommodate Google DX, Google Sheets and other productivity applications. Formerly known as Google Apps, the name was first used in 2006. At the same time, the company renamed another Google as Google Cloud for Work Services.
Former Oracle executive Thomas Kurien replaced Green as Google’s cloud leader in January 2019, and Google raised prices for the G Sweet at the time. In October 2019, Soltero joined Google from Micros.ft, where he has been corporate vice president working on office fees and virtual assistant to the court.
In February, Alphabet began announcing quarterly cloud revenue. It booked 2 3.0 billion in Q2, up 43% from the previous quarter.
