Google Duo is coming to Android TV as a beta in the coming weeks

In addition to Meet added Chromecast support earlier this month, Google today briefly reviewed and detailed Google Duo for Android TV. Allows you to make video calls from the largest screen in your home.

However, the big screen is not just for work meetings: we also want to make videos to better call your friends and family as well. In an effort to bring the experience of video calling to more parts of your home, Google Duo will be rolling out a Beta on Android TV in the coming weeks.

If a TV does not have a built-in camera, users can insert a USB accessory. Duo on Android TV will support both one-on-one and group calling. A screenshot shows the same “Google Duo” logo in the top right corner, and a preview of your feed at the bottom left.

The short reference to this feature states that it will be available “in the coming weeks” and will be launched in “Beta.” Exact details about this implementation are not yet known, but there will most likely be a Google Duo for Android TV app in the Play Store. The interface for selecting who to contact was also not displayed.

Meanwhile, Google updated the current blog post with a repeat of Meet + Cast for more cases for work and remote use. Focusing on both TVs and smart views, Google advertises how “casting to your TV can help you stay productive and stay focused.” In addition:

Meet and Cast can also be linked to facilitate distance learning. Students can view their classmates and lesson plans on the big screen while working from their laptops, and teachers can get a broader view of their students on a call.

Google also touts the recent Nest Hub Max integration, and dedicated Meet hardware.
