Google makes it easier for Chrome users to sync their passwords and payment information across devices, the company announced in a blog post. Google says the new features will come out “in the coming weeks and months.”
Chrome will be able to access paid payment information saved on Android after logging in to the browser with a Google Account. Payment can be confirmed by entering the CVC of the card or by biometric security. It will also make it easier to log in to a Google Account on an Android device in the first place. If you are already logged in to a Google service like Gmail, you will be given the option to sign in to the browser with a Google Account on the device “with a single tap.”
The desktop version of Chrome has also been updated to give give access to saved passwords if signed in with a Google Account. When you save a new password, Chrome will give you the option to save the Google Account to access the device or all of those devices.
Similar functionality is already available in Chrome through its sync feature, which takes your bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings to devices, 9to5Google Notes. But Google says the problem with this approach is that it depends on the sync option turned on for each device. The new approach, by signing into a browser with a Google Account, makes it “easier and more intuitive” to access your information, the company claims.
This is just the latest change Google is making to how data is synchronized across devices. Last year, the company added the option to access payment information stored on its desktop .p browser through Google Accounts without having to turn on Chrome Sync.
