Goal of 5-Stars joins UNC, set to cut ‘soon’ list

A big five-star recruitment target for the UNC Basketball program talks about his recruitment and where he stands here in August

With only one commitment in the 20-year-old recruiting class, the UNC Basketball program hopes to land some big recruits as a rule. Roy Williams and his staff have eight offers to prospects in that class with a bundle of up to five-star players.

One player where the Tar Heels have been is five-star combo guard Hunter Sallis from Nebraska.

Sallis landed an offer from the Tar Heels a few months back and since then his recruitment has been a bit quiet. But it sounds like that will change soon.

The guard recently caught Jake Weingarten of StockRiser trying to break his recruitment and provide an update. He told Weingarten that there are still a number of programs involved in his recruitment, but he plans to cut his list sooner rather than later:

For that reason, he is currently being chased by nearly 20+ programs and tells Stockrisers.com that he will cut that into a ‘sooner rather than later’ list

‘Really, the blue blood programs that have recruited me are still involved. The schools in neighborhoods like Creighton, Nebraska, Iowa State, Dan Florida, Alabama, Oregon, Louisville, UConn, and more, “Sallis said of who is involved.

Sallis has a total of 23 offers in his recruitment to date, including from some Blue Blood programs such as UNC and Kansas. He is ranked as the No. 19 overall player, No. 2 combo defense and no. 1 player in the state of Nebraska by 247 Sports.

Besides wanting to cut his list, Sallis told Weingarten he met with UNC last week about Zoom. He also had talks with Kansas, Iowa State, Creighton, Alabama, Oregon and Arkansas. Sallis wants to try to take visits when the dead period of recruitment is over, but that may not be for at least a few more months.
