Google suffered an hour-long outburst yesterday morning. This afternoon, Gmail is seeing some widespread “address not found” issues that prevent certain emails from being delivered.
This issue appears primarily as a message delivery subsystem from [email protected] – some messages are not delivered and soon – users who receive an “address not found” error – around 30 seconds – appear as error messages.
Your message was not delivered to [email protected] because the address could not be found, or was unable to receive mail.
Google says a “significant subset of users” is affected, and we haven’t been able to use workspace accounts to access individual Gmail addresses. However, the opposite exchange works, while resolving emails to others in our domain.
Gmail suffered a similar “interruption” yesterday evening, the same “address not found” / “550-5.1.1” problem included. It was resolved in just over an hour.
Loads web and mobile clients, though Google warns of “error messages, high latency and / or other unpredictable behavior.” Other functions, such as opening and retrieving messages, work.

Google acknowledged the issue at 1:29 p.m. and hoped to provide an update in an hour.
Amendment 1: Google is still investigating the issue and will provide an update by 3 p.m.
Update 2: “Gmail service has already been reinstalled for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future.”
