GM plans to invest in increasing the production of electric vehicles

General Motors is expected to announce on Tuesday significant investments to expand the production of electric vehicles in the factories of Spring Hill, Tennessee and potentially other sites.

GMA said in a statement Monday that it plans to make a “major U.S. manufacturing investment announcement” on Tuesday. The Detroit News reports that the automaker plans to start building the Cadillac Lyric electric SUV at its Spring Hill, Tenny plant. Industry Topcast Solutions, which tracks the industry’s production plans, said it expects lyric production by the end of 2022.

GM will shift the production of vehicles to other plants, resulting in new investments in other locations. Auto Toforcast Solutions said it expects to also announce some electric vehicle production for a factory in Mexico.
