Ginny Vijnalddm explodes with ‘stupid’ Pickford’s hand and Liverpool’s dressing room reacts to Van Dijk’s injury

Ginny Vijnaldum admits that the “disastrous” Liverpool are struggling with the injury of Virgil Van Dijk, as he denounced Everton’s Merseyside derby behavior.

The Netherlands international also has a reckless challenge from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as a “complete idiot” over his Liverpool team-mate.

Van Dijk needs surgery on an ACL injury after facing Pickford in a 2-2 draw on Saturday and the shock is likely to leave the Reds star in the club’s 25-man squad for the Premier League term of the season.

It was decided after both Efferton goalkeeper escaped punishment from the Football Association that both referee Michael Oliver and VR David Cote witnessed the incident which ended Van Dyke’s campaign.

Elsewhere in the game, Richardson was shown a straight red card for another challenge at Thiago Alcantara, forcing the Reds midfielder to sit out a visit to Ajax on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

The generally light-hearted scientist did not hold back as he criticized Everton for some challenges in Saturday’s bruised Merseyside derby.

“Of course we’re upset,” Vijnanaladam told reporters ahead of Wednesday night’s game in Amsterdam.

“The way Pickford went into the challenge was stupid in my opinion.

“I don’t think he wanted to hurt Virgil the way he did, but the way he handled it, he didn’t care what happened after he was handled.

“I think we had a lot of that in the games against Everton. In my opinion, we take that too far in the games against them.

“We know it’s a derby and everyone wants to win the derby but they took it a little bit to the top.

“Richardson’s solution to Thiago was also a nasty one. The way they were doing was completely unacceptable.

“It makes it harder for them not to be punished.”

After seeing an expert on Sunday, it was confirmed that 75 million million dollars would be needed for Van Dijk and Vijnanaladam acknowledged that Liverpool’s squad was in a difficult position to get to.

He added: “We are still destroyed. This was different than usual. The way it happened is really difficult for us.

“Everyone still has a really bad feeling about it. When we talked to LDs about it on Saturday, there was nothing sleazy about what happened to Virgil and what happened.

“It’s really hard to take and tough for the team.”
