Georgia QB Statson Bennett now ‘The Man’; Impressed jumbo package

ATHENS – As good as that, Kirby Smart made it clear, Georgia could have a win over Ub Burn and it would have been better.

The No. 4 Tigers are dominated by the No. 4-Bulldogs, who won Saturday night 27-6 at Sanford Stadium, with an improvement from Week One to Week Two, like any team at the SEC.

The defense, which kept the ub burn out of the end zone and allowed the Tigers just 216 yards, was just as strong.

This, despite the loss of All-American Richard Lacont, a quarterback of defense in a questionable targeted call in the second quarter.

Former walk-,, no, junior college lege transfer and spring-time fifth-string quarterback Statson Bennett continued the inevitable Cinderella story with his other unique performances.

Here are three quick gifts from the game:

‘Guy’ – for now

Bennett was 17-of-28 for 240 yards without touchdowns and turnover, hitting once for a loss of 15 Yards.

Most importantly, Bennett moved the ball, passing 7-of-10 on the third down for 10 yards, leading UGA to score on his first four drives.

It turned out to be a sufficient performance for Bennett, the running game also producing 202 yards on 45 attempts.

“I think he got a little worried early on, (and) he probably missed a few throws,” Smart said. “The people around him played well, and that’s important to Statson. But he did a good job of figuring out what we wanted to do in the game plan and he did it well.

“We think he’s the guy right now, and he’s done a good job of preparation.”

Transfer jetty Daniels was cleared last week, but Smart hinted that it could take some time for Daniels to get comfortable playing in the defensive right knee brace he suffered from a torn ACL in the USC opener against Fresno State last season.

Meanwhile, the Georgian players are happy that Bennett has survived to his nickname “Mailman” and continues to deliver.

Good defense

As fast as the Georgia defense A Burn QB came to Bo Nix, the smart left feeling like the Bulldogs left some play on the field and left the field too.

“I don’t think we finished well. I thought we had four or five missed sacks, just couldn’t get it to the ground.” “I was happy (statistically) with the way we accomplished; Six points and product.

“But we don’t usually drop a lot of third down. We’ve been good on the field in third place, and (ub was burned) 7 of 16, we don’t finish our goal. “

Oh, and that 15-game, 54-yard drive that enabled Taig to score a field goal and cut the lead to 24-6? The head coach was not happy.

“We know the first drive of the second half was not up to our standard,” said Smart, who has held ub burn for 14 points or less in five of his five meetings with Malzhn since becoming Bulldogs head coach.

Goal line package

Georgia fans are already in love with the jumbo package as they have never seen this before.

When junior Jordan Davis (7-7, 303030 pounds) and freshman Jillian Carter () – 3, 505) line up the tight end and fullback, you know they aim to get into someone’s net.

Both successful plays in the short yard happened on the same two occasions.

“Monken talked about the inability of a lot of people to travel in the NFL and how he used defensive players for those packages, and we definitely think Jordan is a weapon in terms of his athleticism and size.” “And Jalen played a lot of stuff in high school. He’s a really talented guy who’s played some fullbacks.

“We’ve got it for a while and thought we’d use it when needed.”
