Georgia jumps three places in team rankings after last promise

After landing eight wide receivers in the last two classes, Georgia has its first engagement at that position in the 2021 cycle. The Bulldogs turned Ole Miss Adonai Mitchell (Cane Ridge; Antioch, Tenn.) For his eleventh engagement in the current class.

The promise allows UGA to jump from No. 16 on the 247Sports Composite Team ranking to No. 13, jumping over Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Each of the programs ahead of Georgia has at least three more commitments, except Alabama, which also has 11 commitments. The Bulldogs are just over seven points from entering the top 10.

He gave his promise to the rebels on April 15, but has been a major target for the Bulldogs since being offered in February. UGA wide receiver coach Cortez Hankton is Mitchell’s top recruiter.

At 6 feet 3,190 pounds, Mitchell is rated a three-star prospect by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He is currently the nation’s No. 371 general prospect and No. 61 wide receiver. He is the No. 11 prospect in Tennessee. Those rankings take into account those of 247Sports plus two other points of sale. 247Sports’ internal ranking sees him as the nation’s 51st prospect and 9th prospect in Tennessee.

As a junior at Cane Ridge, he helped his team to a 9-4 record by hauling 49 passes for 745 yards and 11 touchdowns. He played his second season at Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend, Texas. Mitchell has reported 20 deals with Auburn, Baylor and Texas included.

UGA got three scorers in the class of 2019 on the five-star prospect George Pickens and the four-star boys Dominick Blaylock and Makiya Tongue. Pickens led the Bulldogs on reception in 2019 with 49 strokes for 727 yards and eight scores. Blaylock had 18 catches for 310 yards and five scores, while Tongue shot red.

After the position was a bit weak for the team last season, Kirby Smart and the company went out and signed five receivers in 2020. Three of them, Marcus Rosemy, Arian Smith and Jermaine Burton, were ranked as the Top 100 Prospects. nationwide by the 247 Sports Compound. UGA also signed another four-star for Justin Robinson, who signed up early, and a three-star prospect for Ladd McConkey.
