Phil Steele has released his top 25 annual preseason college football, and he’s not terribly high this year in Georgia.
Steele has the Dawgs at number 7 in the United States, by no means is it a bad ranking. It’s just not necessarily where DawgNation would like to see its boys start the season – most outlets have put the Bulldogs between 4 and 6.
In these rankings, Steele has Georgia as the SEC’s fourth best team. Conference teams ranked ahead of the Bulldogs include Alabama, LSU, and, surprisingly, Texas A&M.
You’ll have to scroll down to number 13 to find the Florida Gators, a team that is receiving a ton of preseason hype over virtually every non-Steele analyst.
Georgia returns 8 defenders from last year’s No. 1 defense, added two elite quarterbacks, signed the country’s No. 1 recruiting class, and got an upgrade on the offensive coordinator.
We’ll see.
