ATHENS – It’s been a long, challenging season for the Georgia Football League, and the Bulldogs haven’t met all of their goals, or even met their first team goal of winning the SEC East Division.
And so far, coach Kirby Smart’s team has continued to fight and is arguing its best football of the season by entering the Chick-fil-A pitch bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday afternoon.
“These kids have really worked hard, right? Explaining the rigors of the season, which began with workouts last June, Smart said it includes the mental ups and downs of four games that have been moved, postponed or canceled between structured Covid-19 protocols, requiring them to return home and campus. Friends in social circles ..
“They’ve worked harder through the epidemic because they had to work twice as hard to stay available,” Smart said. “They had to practice twice in a few weeks, which meant practicing once for Missouri, practicing for Missouri again, practicing for Wendy once, practicing for Wendy again, practicing longer.”
Wonderbilt, of course, canceled, so now moved Cincinnati to the ring.
The Bearcats worked hard and did their best to reach their ultimate goals, shooting at the College Lage Football .L playoff appearances and national titles, and yet, they were rejected.
“If you want to claim that you have a chance and you want a shot,” said Barclays coach Luke Fickle, “this is a chance and this is a shot.”
The Chick-File-A Peach Bowl will actually promise two more teams in the postseason fighting for the final win.
Both teams are hungry. Both teams have something to prove.
