Now the next payday is a little over a month away, as the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will launch in just two days from each other. Developers are starting to investigate the new hardware specs, but one who already has a launch game says the new hardware is a huge upgrade.
Gearbox is releasing Godfall, a PlayStation 5 launch game. In a Borderlands retrospective interview with Gamespot, Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford talked about what players can expect from the new pay generation.
“I always get pumped when I have the ability to go one step further with hardware and new technology, and anything that is empowering us,” Pitchford said. “I think customers will realize how much of a difference this new platform brings to gain throughput capability. It’s just totally unrealistic. The leap with the PS5 and Xbox Series X is the biggest leap I’ve ever seen in history. Console pay generations. I say, including a leap from 2D to 3D.
Pitchford cautioned that “it would be difficult to see it in the early titles” because many of them have ports or games that are re-imagined from the current pay-per-view to the next general. Still, he said he’s looking forward to Borderlands 3 on the new console, which has more resolution and framerate. He also annoyed the new way to come.
Godfall, developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox, is coming on November 12 with the PS5. In the same way that the Gearbox-developed Borderlands series is a “looter-shooter”, the game is described as a “robber-slasher”. Apart from this, however, they do not appear to overlap further.
