G Suite re-introduces Google as a workspace

On Tuesday, the company announced that it would rename the G Suite as the Google Workspace and said the features would help streamline collaboration as more and more companies are extending home action during the epidemic.

Google will redesign icons for Gmail, Drive, Calendar and other services next week with the company’s four-color palette.

“This is the end of ‘office fees,’ as we know,” said Javier Soltero, vice president and general manager of Google Workspace, in a statement. “From here, teams can meet face-to-face, focus on the most effective work, and We need to protect their time and create new human connections. “

Google previously announced a revamped G Suite in July, previewing features that limit the need to switch between different apps – including the ability to join a video call directly from the Gmail inbox.

One of the platform’s new features is the ability to preview links in other Google apps without leaving one’s original window, and the introduction of “smart chips” that display contact information when someone is @-notified.

These features are now available to businesses, while others “in the coming weeks.” Businesses Works 6-per-user can purchase Google Workspace under the “Business Starter” plan, or a Business 18-per-user can add additional security and compliance capabilities under the “Business Plus” plan.

The features will be available to all users “in the coming months”, according to a press release.

More broadly, the launch of Google Workspace represents a recent step in the company’s efforts to dominate the virtual productivity sector, especially against competitors such as the Micro .ft Office Fees 365, which added the popular cross-application integration feature in May.

Google may have an intrinsic advantage: Before joining Google in October 2019, Stertero was corporate vice president at Micros.ft for four years, where – according to his LinkedIn profile – his duties include “making office fees and some other wonderful things”.
