Funeral for Robert Trump on Friday

WASHINGTON – The funeral for Robert Trump is expected to take place on Friday after he died in Manhattan at the age of 71 on Saturday, President Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday.

The president said there would probably also be a “small service” at the White House. It is unclear if Trump intends to attend the funeral for his younger brother and details about the funeral are unknown.

The youngest Trump scion died just days after he was hospitalized on Friday, with the president almost walking to New York to visit his brother on his bed for nearly an hour.

Robert also spent a week in intensive care at Mount Sinai Hospital in June and reported suffering from cerebral hemorrhage since a recent fall, a family friend told the New York Times.

The death seems to have hit the president hard, with Trump describing him as his “best friend.”

“It is with a heavy heart that I share that my wonderful brother, Robert, passed away last night,” the president said in a statement.

“He was not only my brother, he was my best friend,” he continued. ‘He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again. His memory will live in my heart forever.

‘Robert, I love you. Rest in peace.”
