Apple introduced its Siri (or pApple TV) touchscreen remote in 2015 alongside the fourth-generation pleApple TV, and it has never been a particularly popular accessory.
Last year we saw Swiss telecommunications company Salt launch an alternative remote control for Apple TV 4K set-top boxes that it includes in its national broadband TV package, and yesterday AppleInsider Another potential alternative emerged for anyone frustrated with Apple’s native remote control.
Function101’s “Remote Button for Apple TV” costs $ 30 and looks very similar to the Swiss model, but this one will be available in the United States later this month, providing another option for anyone viewing one of Salt’s models in eBay, where they are sold at a considerable premium.
The remote control button includes directional arrows in place of the Siri remote control’s glass touch pad, a power button in addition to a menu button, along with separate channel and volume controls and traditional media play buttons. However, there is no Siri button included.
If that omission is a deciding factor but you can’t live with Apple’s remote, you can always control your Apple TV using an iPhone or your Apple Watch.
