(CNN) – It’s that time of year when the air cools down a bit, pumpkin decorations pop up on stores and the Corn Moon fills the sky.
This moon can be confusing because it is also called the Harvest Moon, or the Moon which is the closet of the autumn equator. Depending on the year and when the lunar phase arrives, it can be both.
When can you see it?
The Corn Moon usually appears in September, but every two or three years it appears in October-October. This year you will be able to see the full beauty of this moon on September 2 from 2pm to around 1:22 pm around ET.
CNN meteorologist Judson Jones said it is her favorite time to see the full moon as it rises above the eastern horizon.
Jones said, “When the moon is low on the horizon, it allows you to get a view with objects at the front, so that the moon looks bigger.”
“Say you’re in the city, and you’re looking between a few buildings or on the skyline, it looks too big and gives it more impact.”
Which moon is next?
Since Harvest Moon and Corn Moon are different this year, Harvest Moon will be the full moon to be completed next October.
CNN’s Forrest Brown and Katie Hunt contributed to this report.
