‘Fresh Prince Bel f Bel-Air’ stars Will Smith, Janet Hubert reflects on the decades-long feud: ‘I was wounded,’

Will Smith wants to directly establish a record of decades of conflict.

The 52-year-old appeared on Facebook’s “Red Table Talk” to open up about his compromise with former “Bell-Air of Fresh Prince” co-star Janet Hubert.

The series – which is usually hosted by his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, daughter Willow Smith and mother-in-law Adrian B. Field Nuffield Norris – is facilitated by scientific clinical psychologist Dr. Ra. Ramani Durvasula. In a clip shared by People’s Magazine on Friday, Smith said he wanted to “talk about something that has really put me in trouble for almost 30 years.”

“My painful situation was around ‘Fresh Prince’. I had a quarrel, a war of words with Janet that I never thought would be resolved.”

“Fresh Prince Belf Bell-Air” originally aired from 1990 to 1996. Smith and Hubert, 64, were buried during the sitcom’s HBO Max Reunion Special, which premiered Wednesday.

Smith admitted, “I can’t really see myself celebrating without dealing with this.

Hubert played Aunt Weave for the first three seasons of the show. However, he left in 1993, citing “creative differences.” Hubert was then replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reed, 72૨. Since then, Smith and Hubert have expressed hostility toward each other in the press.

According to the outlet, it was the first time the two had seen each other in 27 years.

During the conversation Hubert explained why he left the series at the height of his success.

“She was insane,” he said. “They offered me this really bad deal in the third season. They said, ‘You’ve got two months and two weeks’ work and you can’t work anywhere else. So that meant my salary was cut. I had a new baby and a husband who was out of work, so I said no. I did not accept their offer. ”

“I was never fired, but there was always a misunderstanding,” Hubert added. “I was trapped – what can I do?” They said, ‘Okay, then we’ll show your role again,’ and I said, ‘What can I say?’ I was surrounded, deeply shattered. “

Hubert said Smith’s comments about the departure over the years hurt his career.

Hubert explained, “As you went on and on and on, we knew you were going to be huge.” “I’ve lost everything – prestige, everything – and I understand you’re capable of moving on, but you know those words – it’s hard to call a black woman in Hollywood a kiss of death. And it’s hard enough to be a dark-skinned black woman in this business. “

Still, Hubert said he is eager to finally resolve their differences.

“I felt it was necessary for us to finally move on, and I’m sorry I tore you to pieces.”

“First of all, thank you for sharing it with me,” Smith replied. “I did not know, but now that I am back, it is clear that you are having a hard time and I feel that you hate me. I couldn’t celebrate the 30th anniversary of this show and celebrate you, I would celebrate your contribution to this show, I would celebrate your contribution to my life. ”

The pair apologized for their troubled relationship.

“The person I want to be is someone who protects you, not someone who frees the dogs on you,” Smith said.

“Red Table Talk” airs on Fridays at 12 noon.
