A surprising video has appeared of two French children falling from the window of an apartment building and throwing themselves into the arms of the locals to escape a fire that ravages their home.
Children in Grenoble, ages 3 and 10, managed to survive the fall from the third floor of the building and have since been treated for smoke inhalation, according to the BBC.
“Fortunately, they jumped one after the other without suffering serious injuries,” Souhaila Saidi, who lives in a nearby apartment, told Storyful.

The video of the tense scenes that unfolded on Monday began with a child held on the window sill of the apartment as flames sent black smoke from the unit.
The boy then falls at least 40 feet after being released, drawing screams from residents who gathered to watch.

Two of the good Samaritans who helped catch the children suffered broken arms as a result of the falls, reports the BBC.
Grenoble Mayor Eric Piolle praised the bravery of all who responded, writing on Facebook that “hand in hand, they allowed the two little ones to come out of this drama unscathed.”
