Free agent Mike D’Antony favors a return to the Rockets; James Harden hopes to have a coach as well

Coach Mike Dinton, now a free agent that has removed the Houston Rockets from the NBA playoffs, said his choice would remain in the organization.

The face of that franchise is also the hope of James Harden.

“Of course. Of course,” Harden said after the Los Angeles Lakers lost 119-96 at the end of the Rockets’ season in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals Saturday night in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. “Mike has done some incredible things here.”

The Rockets led 217-101 during Dinton’s four seasons in Houston, plus 28-23 in the playoffs, advancing from the first round each season and into Game 7 of the West Final in 2017-18.

Dintoni, 69, spent the final year of the deal twice after breaking off the last off-fashion in unusual fashion after discussions to spend the season. The owners of the rockets, Tilman Fertitta and D’Antoni’s longtime agent, Warren Legri, publicly blamed each other for failing to reach an agreement on the extension.

However, Dantoni praised the Rockets organization on Saturday night when he reiterated his intention to continue coaching, whether it be in Houston or elsewhere.

“We’ve got a great organization, a great city, a great fan base, a great team,” said Dintoni. “I mean, everything is fine here. We’ll see what happens, but I couldn’t ask for a better situation. I have four years. Hopefully it will continue, but you never know. But all is well on this side.” Yes, of course.

“It was fun. It’s still fun. You always hate losing. It’s always a little strict sweet, but I can’t tell you to work with better people and work with better players. A lot of things happen out there too. , A lot of little things, but I had four great years, for sure. “

ESPN’s Adrian Wozniacki recently reported that Ddntoni is considered a leading candidate in the Indiana Pacers’ coaching search. Sources told ESPN that at least one other team with a coaching vacancy has a keen interest in D’Antoni.

Dantoni, whose career record is 672-527, is widely credited with revolutionizing NBA crime. Its “seven seconds or less” Phoenix Suns teams broke the traditional norm by pushing the tempo and shooting more 3-points than any team, a game genre that has been adopted during the league for decades. The Rockets took the extremes further, setting a record of 3s in each of Denton’s first three years and breaking the traditional center position this season.

Dyntoni, whose phoenix team evolved as a peak-and-roll maestro with Steve Nash, embraced Houston’s aggressive system to play in Harden’s power as a historically select isolation player. Harden, whose move to the point guard was D’Intoni’s first big decision with the Rockets, has won an assistant title, three scoring titles and an MVP award in his four seasons together.

“The experience has been great – moving me mainly to focus on the guard, the ball handler and just coming up with different plans and fundamentally changing the game,” said Gamden to Harden with a loss of 0 points and five assists. “It’s been an amazing experience. It’s been a difficult season for us. Naturally, it doesn’t end as we wanted it to. We’ll find it now.”

Dantoni said he has yet to give more thought to his possible options if he does not return to the Rockets.

D’Antoni said, “First, I’ll just go back to my room, have a little pity party.” De Antony said. “After that, we’ll find out. Right now, it’s still biting enough that I’m not going to think about anything else.”
