Franklin County reports 11 new cases, first death


(WSIL) – Southern Illinois Department of Health reports 42 new cases of Saturday coronavirus including the first virus-related death in Franklin County.

These new cases span Franklin, Gallatin, Jackson, Saline, White and Williamson counties.

Franklin County:

  • Wife: Three teenagers, one in her 20s, one in her 30s, one in her 50s, and one in her 80s
  • Men: Two in their 20s, one in her 30s and one in her 70s.

The department announces the first death in Franklin county related to COVID-19. The individual was a woman in her 70s who had previously been confirmed to get the disease. To date, there have been 175 laboratory-positive positions in Franklin County COVID-19. Of these positive cases, 86 have been recovered.

Gallatin County:

  • Woman: One in her 30s, case status in progress

The Egyptian health department reports that Gallatin County has a total of 52 lab-confirmed positives of COVID-19, including two deaths.

Jackson County:

  • Woman: One teen, one in her 20s, one in her 40s, two in her 50s, one in her 60s, one in her 70s, and one in her 90s
  • Men: One in his 30s, one in his 50s, and two in their 60s

According to the health department, there have been 708 confirmed cases so far, including 19 related deaths. Of these positive cases, 585 have been released from isolation and 104 cases remain active.

Saline County:

  • Male: One in his 30s, case status in progress

To date, Saline County has confirmed a total of 130 lab positives, including two deaths.

White County:

  • Wife: One in her 40s, at home and in isolation
  • Men: One in his 40s, one in his 70s, both cases status in progress

According to the Egyptian Department of Health, White County has had a total of 70 lab-confirmed positives.

Williamson County:

  • Women: Two in their 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 40s, and two in their 50s
  • Men: One child, three in their 40s, one in their 50s, and one in their 60s

To date, there have been a total of 402 laboratory-confirmed positives in Williamson county. Of these positive cases, 213 have been recovered.

Illinois Department of Public Health:

Health officials announced 2,190 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in the state, including 18 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH reports a total of 192,698 cases including 7,631 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.
