The largest Pizza Hut franchisee in the US will close 300 restaurants nationwide, parent company Yum! Markets announced Monday.
NPC International Inc., which owns 1,227 Pizza Hut stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July and has now agreed to Yum! Markets to close 300 closed restaurants, most of which locations will be eaten.
Specific locations of Pizza Hut closures have not been announced.
According to a search on the NPC International website, there are at least five of its Pizza Hut franchises in Minnesota, all in western parts of the state: Breckenridge, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Worthington.
“We have continued to work with NPC and its lenders to optimize NPC’s Pizza Hut restaurant footprint and strengthen its portfolio for the future, and today’s joint agreement to close 300 NPC Pizza Hut restaurants is a major step towards a healthier business. , “Pizza Hut said in a statement delivered to Fox Business.
“In line with the previously announced transfer of Pizza Hut to a more modern delivery, sidewalk and implementation-oriented asset base, a substantial majority of the NPC Pizza Hut locations to be closed have been relocated,” read the statement.
