Trump’s White House adviser Kellyanne Conway received an unexpected question Wednesday from Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum about President Donald Trump’s sudden embrace of wearing face masks to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
While appearing online, Conway praised the president for recommending everyone in the country to wear a mask during the pandemic.
“I think it was incredibly important for the President of the United States to provide information to the public,” said Conway, before attacking members of the media for “asking questions that had nothing to do with the development of vaccines and therapies. ” “
MacCallum, however, noted that this marked a significant change compared to previous White House messages.
“But Kellyanne, I guarantee that there are people at home who will listen to that and say, why didn’t the White House send us this message two months ago?” she asked. “Why now? Why didn’t the President push, emphasize, and encourage back then when he could have made an even bigger difference?”
“The president said in April that if people want to wear a mask, they should wear a mask,” Conway replied, although this was far from being a strong recommendation.
