Founder of Black Lives Matter Chicago says steps on message have been robbed; condemns the inactivity of Mayor Lightfoot

EXCLUSIVE: Founder Aislinn Pulley, Black Lives Matter Chicago, says the recent looting in Chicago sent messages that the organization was trying to convey, while Mayor Lori Lightfoot was guilty of slow-pedal reform in the city’s police department.

While not referring to the looting and damage to property, Pulley acknowledged that it did not help address the issue of police brutality.

‘I think the purpose of the occupation to damage property and looting specifically, along the Mag Mile and in the heart of the commercial center of the city, works to deduce from the real cause of the terror , the important thing is to intervene in people and remind them what the causal incident was and continues to be. ”

The unrest was prompted by a social media post urging people to convert in the Chicago business district after police shot a young Black man on the South Side around 2.30pm Sunday.

Pulley places the blame at the feet of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who, unlike other local officials in the state, has not made any calls to defend the budget of the police department.

“Refusing to request any significant change will mean we have persistent instances like this … the way to fix this is to tackle real issues, it’s not with Target, it’s not with Macy’s or the Gold coast Cartier …. we can certainly draw links to what is prioritized, but the main problem is that policing is the absolute same in this city, “says Pulley.

Pulley added: “There has been no significant decrease in the CPD budget [Chicago Police Department], there has not even been a promise to reduce the budget for CPD, we have seen other mayors across the country working with city councils to bring about change, that has not happened here. “

Lightfoot, on the other hand, took the opposite approach, taking a strong tone in response to the looting in the heart of Windy City.

DEMOCRATIC CHICAGO ALDERMAN SAYS CITY IS A ‘TOTAL UNREST’ AND ‘BURGER HAS LOST CONTROL’

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, they excused those who were destroying property.

“There is no justification for criminal behavior ever. You have no right, no right to take and destroy the property of others. Our residents deserve to be safe. Our businesses deserve the safety and security of their property and in ours. understand and enjoy employees and our police officers deserve to be able to do their job without worrying about shooters being shot, projectiles being fired and made. This is nowhere near acceptable. “

At 12:20 a.m. Monday, hundreds of people descended on downtown Chicago, smashed the windows of businesses and made do with brands, ATMs and everything they could carry, police said.

However, BLM Chicago has no plans to stop demonstrating. Looting and vandalism prevent organizers from hearing their voices. Asked by Fox News if the peaceful protests could continue with property destruction taking place simultaneously in the form of looting and vandalism, Pulley offered a full-fledged confirmation.

“Staying in the streets in terms of organizing, in terms of protest, marching and rallying must continue and will continue. We will continue with unrest, inter-municipal violence and these things until the root causes are resolved.”
